![]() This is an incontrovertible fact that Lady Montagu’s language is hard to understand for those who do not speak or learn British English because the letters include abbreviations such as ‘tis, ‘twas, and &c. I will investigate three significant topics in Lady Montagu’s letters which are her use of language, the emphasis of differences between Ottoman women and British women, and women's admiration. ![]() The letters generally reflect Mrs.Montagu’s detailed observations and comparisons about women, traditional clothes, culture, and daily life in Ottoman Empire. ![]() While traveling, she wrote The Turkish Embassy Letters. For the reason that her husband, Edward Wortley Montagu, was a British ambassador in the Ottoman Empire between years 1716 to 1718, she got the chance to travel to İstanbul. Mary Wortley Montagu is an English poet, aristocrat, and letter writer who lived between 1689 to 1762. ![]()
